There are 134 volunteers and volunteer blood donors for every Red Cross employee. Volunteers are central to accomplishing our life-saving mission. Thank you for your interest.

Community Outreach
Volunteers like you represent Red Cross at fairs, festivals and other community events by educating the public about blood donation and volunteering. Shifts are available on weekends and holidays.

Courier
Volunteer couriers transport life-saving blood to local hospitals to help ensure blood is available when patients need it. They also deliver blood from community blood drives to the Red Cross for processing and testing. Volunteers must be at least 25 years old, but younger passengers may ride along to assist. If you enjoy driving this activity is right for you.

Donor Ambassador
Act as an ambassador at your local community blood drives. By greeting donors, answering questions, and serving light refreshments you will encourage blood donors to continue giving the gift of life. Day time help is urgently needed however shifts are available evenings and weekends. Volunteers typically serve for five or six hours once or twice a month. What a great way to meet people while providing excellent customer service.

Interpreter (Spanish)
Volunteers like you put your fluent Spanish speaking skills to work translating confidential medical questions for life saving blood donors or assist at community outreach events. Help us reach out to those that prefer to speak in Spanish.

Marketing Specialist
Volunteers like you build relationships with people from all walks of life. Every person you speak with could mean more volunteers or blood products available for children, cancer patients and those in need. Use your sales and marketing skills for two hours twice a month; what a great way to give back to your community, meet others or enhance job skills.

Medical Volunteer
Volunteers like you give flawless customer service to people who donate platelets. You will also check in donors, file medical charts, stock medical carts and assist nursing staff. What a great way to gain medical administrative experience or see what it’s like to work in a medical setting.

Office Assistant
Volunteers like you support departments as they work to get lifesaving blood to hospital patients. American Red Cross donors provide more than 40 percent of the nation’s blood supply. On a weekly basis, you’ll partner with paid staff on general office projects such as data entry, making packets, filing, etc. Volunteering at the Red Cross is a great place to share your skills.

Phone Team
Volunteers like you ensure donors receive crucial reminder calls so they keep their pre-scheduled blood donation appointment. Shifts are available days, nights or weekends. You can talk on the phone and help save lives at the same time.

Team Volunteering
Groups like yours (families, friends, clubs, retirees, teams, church groups, school classes, scout troops, etc) help the Red Cross at local blood drives or events. Groups of four or more volunteering at least six times a year can help make a big difference to meeting patients needs. This is a great way for a group to receive visibility and help save lives.
